BJJ
SCIENCE SERIES
A series of three talks that translates research into practical strategies for improving performance in combat sports. The BJJ Science Series can be delivered in person or online as three one-hour talks or combined into a single session, each with time for questions. 1. Preparing Your Body for BJJ: This talk covers warming up effectively, injury prevention, strength and conditioning, fitness testing and monitoring, providing a framework for sustainable athletic development in grappling. 2. Fuelling Your Body for BJJ: This session explores calorific requirements, macronutrient and micronutrient balance, strategies for weight loss and gain and supplementation to support training and recovery demands. 3. Enhancing Performance for BJJ Competition: This talk focuses on managing weight and body composition, hydration, competition-day strategies and recovery methods to optimise performance before, during and after events.

EVERYDAY ATHLETE WORKSHOPS
Four hands-on workshops that connect athletic development theory with practical methods for everyday athletes and the coaches who guide them. Delivered in person as individual two-hour sessions or combined into a single full-day experience, each workshop blends education and application for those who love training and want to understand more about performance; from fitness enthusiasts and Hyrox competitors to personal trainers seeking to deepen their knowledge of strength and conditioning. 1. Warming Up, Movement & Injury Prevention: This workshop covers the principles of effective warm ups, the role of movement quality in performance, and strategies to reduce injury risk. It introduces the RAMP framework, movement assessment, and key exercises for joint health and stability. 2. Co-ordination & Plyometrics: This session develops proprioception and physical awareness through ladder and cone drills, progressing to foundational and advanced plyometric work. Attendees learn how to sequence and apply plyometric exercises for performance, power, and tissue resilience. 3. Acceleration–Deceleration & Linear Speed: This workshop explores how to build and control speed safely. It covers eccentric strength for braking, sprint mechanics, acceleration drills, and strategies to develop maximal velocity and movement efficiency. 4. Change of Direction & Agility: This final session focuses on manoeuvring safely and effectively in space. It distinguishes between pre-planned change of direction and reactive agility, progressing through drills that challenge decision making, reaction time, and movement quality under fatigue.
